A new blog post from Ghostcrawler lays out projected stat changes for Mists of Pandaria.  What does it have to say regarding hunters?

Buried in the middle of the healer session of Ask the Devs is a quote that pertains to dps:

I’ve seen this a fair bit lately: hunters with double (and even triple!) the hit rating needed to never miss a raid boss. How did they get there? What can you do to avoid getting there, and how can they get out? (more…)

Hey everyone. Today we’ll talk about what it is the beginning pvper needs to know as far as gearing and setting up for pvp. I’ll try to cover the most basic things that everyone should know without favoring one type of PvP over another. (more…)

According to the class Q&A on wow.com:

  • They’re replacing mana with energy, like rogues. We’ll have a maximum of 100 focus, and it will regenerate 6/sec (a little slower than rogues’ 10 energy/sec), or a little faster (12/sec) if we use steady shot. No more mana regen, aspect of the viper, or int needed.
  • There will be a complete wipe and overhaul of our talent trees. Again.
  • They’re probably doing away with most talents that increase chance to hit.
  • They’re doing away with armor penetration, and replacing it with “mastery”.
  • Haste will now speed up focus regen
  • Attack power is gone, replaced with agility.
  • There’s a legendary 2h axe called “Shadowmourne”, that whether it’s appropriate or not, we’ll be rolling on :)
  • In general, they’re getting rid of training every new rank of abilities- spells will scale with level, no need to drop by the trainer.
  • Ammo will no longer be consumable, but be an item.

There will, I’m sure, be much chewing on this, but I’m gonna save it for this week’s podcast. Cheers!

You’ve all read the patch notes, here’s what’s important.

  • [Edit 10 aug 2009:] Kill shot no longer has a minimum range! Use when applying melee tactics.
  • All profession based PvE boosts get their performance increased for free, except blacksmithing and jewelcrafting. The extra gem slots and better JC only gems have to be bought somehow. Still, considering these are the top DPS of all the professions, it’s probably worth the cash.
  • Hit rating increases our pets’ expertise. The Draenei hit aura does not. FA seems to be giving about half as much expertise as it should.
  • Beast mastery got a free massive buff, but is still third behind MM and SV for non-gimmick raw DPS.
  • All entry level raiding (including heroics) drops emblems that will buy you Ulduar 25 level gear.
  • XT seems to be bugged and creating many more times the adds he normally does.
  • Yogg’s crusher tentacles have been nerfed. Once we down him, I’ll write the guide.
  • Survival hunters can lay a crowd control trap without losing black arrow now. This may lead to more lock and loads (assuming they’re triggered by adds)
  • Lock and load has an internal 22 second cooldown. This may negate the bonus from the extra traps.

Add to these in the comments, and I’ll edit the post.

Hi folks, today you’re going to get a primer on how a hit capped raiding hunter can rearrange the deck chairs on the titanic and get DPS increases on gear with hit while hit capped!

I was in Dalaran admiring the new gear I paid through the nose for, and glanced down at my hit rating. 300!? What in tarnation…? What do you do in a situation like that? I’m wasting 70 itemization points (as a Draenei, my hit cap is 230). That new T8.5 chest added a buttload of hit, and while the DPS calculator says it’s still an upgrade (probably because it gave me my 4 piece bonus), I feel dirty running over hit cap! What to do? (more…)

From Ahunkaluvin:

“I’d like a guide to what the common mistakes are. For instance, I have pretty fair gear and have tried to put most of your lessons to practice, but somehow I still get nowhere near the DPS(about 1600-1800) of my fellow hunters. OK, So I suck, but, WHY? (other than just general suckiness)”

I’m not the kind of guy to tell someone how bad they are- if they ask for help, that puts them ahead of 90% of the hunters who are (currently) surpassing them in DPS. (more…)

Today I’m going to talk cookie cutter glyphs and specs for marksmanship hunters. That’s right, specs plural. There are a myriad of viable builds for marks, and I was rather overwhelmed when I made the switch. (more…)

I can’t wear half the new cool stuff I paid good DKP for because my hit is too high. I know, I know. I should have rolled something other than a space goat. Curse the Draenei starting area and how much better it is than all the other ones!

I’ll have a nice juicy typically error filled hunter Ulduar boss guide for you tomorrow- until then!

Today we’re going over hit rating. You are all aware that there’s something magically special about hit, I’m sure, due to the ambient information on the internet. What you may not know is exactly why people are always worried about getting hit capped! Well, I’m going to de-mystify this today. (more…)

So as I’m digesting the changes from survival to marksmanship, one of the things I took for granted was that I’d have to re-gem and re-enchant. Agility used to be king, but surely attack power would be for marks right? Apparently not! (more…)
