Edit: The availability of A Treatise on Strategy has increased dramatically in 4.3.2 (and even drops from the new heroics now, I think), meaning that soloing for it is now probably not worth your time. A Treatise on Strategy is probably the hardest to acquire quest item for the new Darkmoon Faire, in part because [...]

Resources for Extreme Soloing
Posted in Hunter, World of Warcraft, tagged extreme soloing, mount run, transmogrifiation on September 9, 2011 | 1 Comment »
Transmogrification is likely to breath some new life into extreme soloing for hunters as they venture into old dungeons and raids in search of snazzy duds. However, extreme soloing for its own sake is still going strong as well. After the cut you’ll find a compilation of links to resources for hunter extreme soloing.
Soloing Altairus

Hunters are capable of soloing Altairus in the Vortex Pinnacle on normal mode, and this is nice since he has a chance to drop a mount. Other guides already exist for soloing this guy (Gavendo’s - text plus vid, Retal01′s - vid of a whole run, Atrakinze’s - Jan. 1 vid of kill only, etc.), but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to have one [...]

Just like better gear can change the way we approach group content, it can also change the way we approach extreme soloing. This is a new guide for hunters soloing normal Stonecore up to and including the mount boss, Slabhide. It reflects what is possible in ilvl 359 or better gear.
Soloing Slabhide

Edit: This guide is somewhat out of date, find the new one here. One of the things I do to kill time before a raid is solo normal Stonecore. This dungeon has a well-earned reputation for being a pug-killer on Heroic mode, but on normal it is actually soloable by hunters. I go there for [...]
Things to Do at the End of Wrath

Many guilds have stopped raiding and season eight has ended. A lot of us are in a sort of doldrums. What can listless hunters do in these times? There are the standard options: run battlegrounds, join pugs, farm achievements, play alts, dominate the auction house. Here, though, I offer some suggestions that are hopefully less obvious.
Farming Anzu and Some News on Extreme Soloing

I had to check it out for myself when WoW Insider reported that Anzu no longer requires a druid to be killed. For those of you who don’t know, Anzu is that raven god that druids used to summon in Heroic Sethekk Halls as part of their Swift Flight Form questline. As of 4.0.1 he no longer needs to [...]

What is extreme soloing? It is soloing game content that was originally not meant to be done by one player, such as older instances and older raids. Typically, this content is challenging, otherwise it isn’t extreme. I realize that “extreme soloing” isn’t the coolest name for the activity, but it is the name already in use and I see [...]
