But sure anyone who's played the game for any period of time knew that. There's is no where to discuss the changes and issues, blizzard will always point to the forums but really.. they know that any good idea gets smothered under a sea of trolling and shite posts/comments.

They really have no clue what they are at, or should I say they really don't give a toss in general. All the comments they make are pure business comments and more and more over recent months/years its become all to clear they are losing interest in the game as gamers game and just want it to be a game everyone can play and get purplez n organez and keeel ze dragons as fast as possible.

Yeah it's been said a million times before but the crapness of cata sums it up for me, that panda rubbish will be another load of rehashed crap with some new zone people will grow bored of within the the first month and then guess what.. back to org/sw afking on this months l33t mount.

If your a altaholic then maybe there's something to do, but the game has totally lost the 'spirit' it once had.
The game to a small degree still has some essence of it for the top 10/20 guilds for getting world first but with the advent of 10 man guilds being able to get server first etc.. its taken so much out of it.

I'll stop typing now as I could go on about it all day in detail where it went wrong and how etc etc but it matters not.
Good times were had but they are few and far between anymore.

I still love my hunter though, first and only char played since day 1 :D

Looking at /played makes me cringe now -_-

Kruf gives more info on the hunter class than pretty much any other source out there. A 20 minute conversation is so riveting and informative!

I often exchange notes as well with Kripparian (or did in the past anyway) and found him to be an equally insightful player.

i like it when the hosts curtail their own opinions (which while sometimes fun, are often just anedotal and limited by their own more-or-less average skill sets).

it is great that there's a venue/podcast for Kruf and his like. hopefully not the last time we get to hear from him!

I think Cataclysm was exceedingly enjoyable during 4.0, but I ended up quitting because it took too long for 4.1 to come out and I got bored of 4.0. I think the design intentions of Cata is what can be expected from now on from Blizz and that is to get every single person to see as much content as possible even if it means it is faceroll through LFR, Normal, and even heroic Morchok and beyond. Normal mode raiding now is meant for casuals and "real" raiding is probably only going to be found in heroic modes for people that want to bring back the Vanilla/BC days.

Scroll down to post 25 in the thread I quoted.

Yes I QQ about how bad WOW and Blizzard are. With good reason. The thread is just a small example. I could cite the whole of Cataclysm. If anyone can make a case against the assertion that it is, by a large margin, the worst expansion so far then I'd be interested to hear it.

I find it utterly baffling that people accept such shoddy content from a company they pay good money to, then demonise those who complain about it.

BM new spec of choice for PVP??

No it isnt.

MM is still best spec because it offers far more in terms burst and control. It also brings the AP buff if thats missing from the other team members.

Thats not to say there are not good BM PVPers out there but they are less in number and very limited in terms of play options basically just being a zerg cleave.

Where BM does come into its own is random BGs where healing cant be guaranteed. In rated BGs however MM would almost always be spec of choice for same reasons as above.

hahahaha. Oh Mehere, what a goofy comment. this post was a thorough look at the pros and cons and potential consequences of the LFR. It was insightful and raised some interesting talking points.

Mehere maybe try reading it again?

i actually did the LFR for the first time last night. I'd been away from the for about 4 months due to burn out from FL raid and grind repetition. It took about 2 hours to do the entire Dragon Soul raid. We were never in any danger of wiping. the lead tanks imparted simply, but perfectly succinct instructions and the rest of the group seemed to know how to follow them.

Overall it was really cool to be able to whip through a major end-of-expansion raid... but... that's sort of it for me. i'm not really a gear guy (i got no drops) so that's not my motivation for raiding; though it is a great treat... so really after i was done, i thought, why keep going? if this were a console, single player game, would i go back and start again at a higher difficulty level? maybe, but probably not.

so today i unsubscribed. might as well save 6 months of $$ until MOP comes out.

i think that's the real downside, at least from Blizzard's point of view...

still, what a nice way to avoid loot and guild drama; to avoid the endless grind to get gold for repairs; to avoid gear criticism etc...

i think your pros/cons list was bang on.

great piece. love what you do here.

No it isnt. It's crap. Most other classes get damage reduction CDs that allow them to continue to DPS. These classes will still be preferable to for situations where you need to combine high burst with good survivability (Madness bolts for example).

I'm really liking this trinket as survival. Picked it up since I had the extra valor and two haste proc trinkets (lfr starcatchers and arrow of time) didn't seem ideal.
There seems to be quite a bit of fights with burst phases in DS. Spine, Hagara, and zon all have great times to use this trinket. Once I get vial/ wrath ill just swap the sigil in on these fights.
It feels like blizzard planned for these on use valor trinkets to be a third trinket that we should have at our disposal for DS.

Q: Are you averaging across the five situations to reach the numbers in the final paragraph?

A: No averaging of the numbers for the cases occurred. The 1900 to 2400 less damage brackets the range in the amount of change between each case. The lowest DPS change between the cases was 1900 and the largest 2400 when comparing a) and b), with 6800 being the smallest and 7400 the largest between b) and c). I then took the most favorable results for the Sigil (smallest change between a) and b) and largest change between b) and c)) to provide the best case scenario for the Sigil.

Q:
Also, in situation a), am I right to assume that you only have the Compass equipped for trinkets?

In both cases, I was using my other trinket for the second trinket. So the only difference netween a) and b)/c) is the whether the Compass or Sigil was used.

That's a good question, and 1:10 min cooldown is correct, I misinterpreted 1.17 min in the tooltip, was probably tierd :) ... I never actually ran the numbers because I won't be using it in normal circumstances, where you want to blow BW on CD. But I know my DPS is greatest when I use it directly on a pull, for example, without waiting for procs like Kiril, I had enough time on Ultraxion&co to test that.

But if you delayed BW by 20 seconds, that'd be one less in a fight that lasts 3.5 minutes. For example, in a 6 minute fight, which is very current, it would be 4 (you could fit a 5th cast in, but the fight would end when you press the button) instead of 6. I wouldn't do that unless in situations like Spine heroic, where it really matters where the burst damage lands.

i think that i'll get that trinket for spine heroic (we're going to be there soon) for BM. as everything seems to depend on the tendon-burst, meaning that i'll be saving BW for this, it is an awesome combo!

unfortunately, there's no situation i can think of where the BM cool down lines up well with boss abilities or procs, that's really a pity and in some situations annoying like hell. 1:17 vs 1 min (many boss abilities and items like kiril) or 1:30 (this trinket).

A little more information on the trinket for MMs. I did 15s analysis in FD of the following 5 fight phase situations with no BL included in any:
1) CA with RF
2) RF during Standard phase
3) RF during KS phase
4) Standard phase unhasted
5) KS phase unhasted

I did the analysis for each of the following situations:
a) My current gear with Starcatcher Compass. Note that the duration of the Compass proc is 20s instead of 15s so the DPS benefit for this case is a little higher.
b) No second trinket equiped but simulating the 458 static haste of Sigil by hand editing the amount with 183 of it reforged as crit. Assumes that no other reforging is done.
c) In addition to b) adds the 2290 agi for the use of Sigil.

Compared to the a) cases, the b) cases did between 1900 to 2400 less damage while the c) cases did between 6800 and 7400 damage. Even with using the spread that most favors Sigil, the damage ratio of C) versus against b) versus a) is only 7400/1900 = 3.89. Since this is much less that the minimum 5 to 1 ratio of Sigil downtime to uptime, Sigil is definitely a worse trinket than the Compass for overall DOPS.

Since this is much less that the minimum 5 to 1 ratio of Sigil downtime to uptime, Sigil is definitely a worse trinket than the Compass for overall DOPS.

For MMs the trinket can be nice since its CD lines up well with RF. You can use it at the start of the fight with the RF during the CA phase when most of the MM attacks are ensured to be crits. Then each odd use of it after that aligns with RFs again. If you always use the trinket with RFs (can enforce this putting its use in a RF macro), especially the one at the start of the fight during the CA phase, then its value is greatly higher than what FD estimates it to be with its averaging.

The problem with the trinket is that although you can have great DPS during RFs and some other times during the fight, you are lacking in DPS over the rest of the fight since it is no agi during those times as oppossed to the 458 constant agility of other options. This means that 83% of the time you are short about 1008 AP and 1.55% crit. Hence, if critical fight situations occur then, you are going to perform worse than with other trinket options during those phases.

If you use the trinket at times where it is difficult to perform the ideal rotation (e.g., have to move, am interrupted/stunned/feared/etc, or having to switch targets), the benefit of the trinket is greatly reduced relative to the other trinkets that provide a constant benefit.

With that said, there are definitely some fights where this trinket works out well, while on the standard fight it probably lacks a little. It makes you really awesome during the CA phase and RFs, but relatively bad the rest of the fight.

Did I miss something. Is LFR required...I was pretty sure it wasn't.

This post sounds like another QQ from an elite who doesn't want people like me (don't have the time or patience for guild politics) to get half decent gear.

Unless you are forced to use LFR, which I am pretty sure you aren't. Why did you use LFR and kill DW in the first day. WHY?>??????, because you could get decent gear for low time output, but then you realized that everyone could do the same and dammit that ain't right, High gear is only for you and your elite friends.

That wasn't really the concern. It's the crazy surivavability and damage that DKs have when there isn't, say, a hunter around who knows how to tranq Vengeance.

My experience with LFR is postitive. I have been able to experience the end story content and be challenged by fights on several toons without the insane pressure of trying not to screw up and wipe a raid. I appreciate not having to wipe 10 times on a boss in LFR.
I'm looking forward to putting together groups of 5,10 or 15 guildies to que for this raid to experience it together.
The gear drops are infrequent so it will take a while for someone to gear up completely using LFR. Even then, there is higher level gear available to those that wish to make the attempts on hard mode.
Hard core raiders will still get to strut that better gear and still get that feeling of having accomplished the kills on hard mode. There will still be an incentive for LFR raiders to join others in hard modes to improve gear and participate in that type of experience.
I thnk the LFR is a success although I would not apply it backwards to Firelands, I would make it the standard for all future content.

I think the best way to fix this is making an NPC like the etherals that do the transmog , that if you have a legendary he will give you a quest for you to gather this crazy amount of really rare materials and pay like 50K then the NPC can "reforge" your old legendary to a new legendary. That way more players can have a chance to have a good weapon that at the same time is not gonna be easy to get, cause there is still the 1% drop rate for the rare or the items to make the rares, like the bindings for thunder Fury or the shards for Val'anyr. I agree that some legendary are a bit easier to get than others but that does mean is that it doesn't take a lot of time to get them

Excellent post and excellent comments.

The only aspect I haven't seen is the diversity of LFR groups and doing LFR with friends.

I always find that doing a LFR with a guildmate or 6+ guildies is a much more pleasurable experience. You can chat and have a social aspect. And for some reason, when I go with a larger group I get paired with other larger guild groups. Those LFR occasions are a real joy; very fast, no wipes, and no waiting around.
