Hey hey! This is Shadowstreak, back again with another installment of Addons and Mods! Today, we’re talking about two very simple mods: Damaging Plus and CritBox. These do more or less the same thing, yet at the same time doing things differently enough to ensure you’ll want them both in your ever growing addons folder.
Damaging Plus is a handy little addon that displays your ranged damage modifier in a nice separate box outside of your character information window (since this is where the information is originally available). In other words it brings up your percent to ranged damage on the screen, right in front of your nose, without you having to live with your character window open.
So lets say your Tier 10 2 piece set bonus goes off, giving you 15% damage, guess what number goes up! Thats right, your ranged damage modifier number in the box.
CritBox is the spearmint to Damaging Plus’s peppermint. In other words, they’re both very similar, yet different enough to be packaged separately. CritBox displays your critical strike chance instead of your ranged damage modifier in the same, handy little box. Got the crit proc from your Deathbringer’s will? Dancing around in that 600 crit strike rating? CritBox takes that into account and makes those numbers fly.
These mods comes in handy particularly to know when to pop off and stack a few cool downs with procs, and especially useful for marks hunters experimenting with their Serpent Sting/Chimera Shot, since your ranged damage modifier and your critical strike rating are the only things remembered by these abilities.
So say your CritBox number jumped up a bunch. Time for a rapid fire! Had a streak of luck and your ranged damage modifier and crit rating both peaked? Better refresh serpent sting!
This functionality, coupled with the ability to set an audio reminder when the ranged damage modifier or crit rating reaches a certain point, makes this mod an awesome tool for those striving for better dps. Really, in a sense, these mods are just a nice new, mathematical way to track procs.
Oh, tracking procs you say? That’s right. Damaging Plus and CritBox seem to be a considerably more numerical way to track procs then waiting for flashing lights. Many hunters out there have already found their own way to do this, tracking procs through such mods like Power Auras or NeedToKnow.
These two are handy, not to throw that fact aside. Yet don’t feel compelled to get them simply because it has numbers rather then lights. If you’re already doing something that works, there’s no real reason to change. The mods do have the bonus of giving you a neater interface, since it somewhat bundles specific procs and effects together. So instead of tracking 4 different procs with Power Auras, and having those lights take up half your screen, CritBox and Damaging Plus bundles them all together in a few, nice boxes.

Nice once, two very useful looknig addons, going to give them a trial tonight.
I have been using SerpentStinger that watches all this (at least, I believe it does as I have monitored when various procs go off) and shows the modified number and when to cast Serpent Sting. Only one box and an indicator goes off when to cast it, if you want.
nice post, ive been using damaging plus for a while myself, but in all fairness, on top of that i would suggest the following addon aswell:
tiny hunter stats…
AP change? Crit change? attack speed change?
you can see all it very clearly.
ass damaging did not take into account any speed changes (on my end it doesnt) the THS is a nice addition to it…
I just tried Damaging Plus, Critbox, and SerpentStinger. I’ve got to say I MUCH prefer SerpentStinger. It’s more configurable, and tells you when to refresh your sting, which is still hard to figure out with the other two addons. Damaging Plus might be nice for a heads up on the T10 proc, but I’ve already got Powerauras notifying me of that, and the alert noise of Damaging Plus is really annoying.
Gonna give them a try tonight.
Thanks Shadowstreak for sharing.
