In this episode, Darkbrew and Frostheim talk about the dev chat on twitter, about Frost’s new gig at wow.com, 2t9 versus 4t10, as well as a wealth of subjects raised in listener emails.
As I mentioned earlier, we have a new site! www.huntingpartypodcast.com, for all you hunting party podcast needs. Our live shows will be hosted there when we start them!
As always, here is the iTunes store link, the Hunting Party Podcast feed, and the direct XML feed. If you email us comments or questions, we’ll read them on the next show. Send an email to huntingpartypodcast@gmail.com. Also, we love iTunes reviews. Frost, in particular, watches them for mentions of the words “uncommonly” and “good looking”, and performs Fourier analysis on the frequency. Keep him busy, we’re safer that way.
If you don’t do syndicated podcasts, and just want to download this week’s MP3 and play it on your player of choice, click here.
That T9 vs. T10 discussion was, in internet terminology, “full of win.”
Note that MM Hunters will want 25 Man Lady Deathwhisper’s consolation prize: Leggings of Northern Lights.
I’ll be putting Scourgebane on my Quel’delar when I pick that sucker up: Great tip! For now I’ll keep Massacre on Distant Land, though.
I always hated pod casts because you can’t skim to the info you’re looking for, but I’ve really been enjoying these.
Thanks, and that was one of the reasons it took me so long to start the show- I didn’t listen to podcasts myself because of the linear nature. I found a place for it though- I’d much rather listen to a podcast than the radio while driving (or on the train or whatever)
So if pets do not scale in a parallel fashion with gear, does that mean that our preference for either Shark Attack or Wild Hunt may change with our gear level?
To the tier discussion I’d add that, for me at least, sticking with two pieces of tier 9 beats obtaining 1 or 2 non-set 264 pieces. I passed on the Leggings of Northern Lights because I know I’ll only ever replace my tier 9 legs if I get tier 10 legs.
I just did this too- it was hard though. My fingers have some sort of muscle memory and I had to sit on my hands to avoid having them bid on it of their own volition :\
For those looking to get 2pt9 / 2pt10 then I would suggest doing Head/Legs for T9 and Shoulder/Chest for T10 and then pick up Logsplitters. That is, at the moment, the most ideal (especially if you can get the heroic T9, which, as stated in the episode, should be a priority as ToGC25 still has plenty of gear for everyone).
I agree and this is what I’m currently working towards. Might have the gloves by next week.
Thanks for noting this.
Also, the Hrist (spelling?) story is just awesome. Had me laughing pretty hard.
Eye of the beast was used back in Molten core to pull one of the bosses in the next room cause it was a hard pull, so if the pull went wrong.. only the pet would die, and raid would survive. it could also be used in wotlk for hard pulls. but hardly any hard pulls now a days ;)
also i use Eagle eye very often in WSG, AB ect. its very very usefull standing at the mine(on the house)
and using it on the Black smith house or LM so you can shout out for horde incoming at any of the bases. also while doing that, you can STILL have “track humanoids” on and check that on your mini map while watching with EE another place :)
you could forexample use it at mimiron in Ulduar to activate the Teleporter to him if someone failed at the train. or.. Thinking..thinking…urgh! i can’t come up with more, but atleast it has its use!…somewhere..! :D
Just to be clear, you have to kill anub to get the heroic tier9 gear. It seemed to be implied in the episode that killing beasts/jaraxxus would get you heroic (258 ilvl) tier 9, which is obviously not the case.
Thanks for the clarification!
Just one clarification on the mention of how the 2pc T10 bonus for MM is modeled in spreadsheets, the Excel spreadsheet doesn’t model the reapplication of the sting and maintaining the bonus throughout the fight, but I have experimental support on my site for this (basically figures out the average time it takes for 2pc T10 to proc the first time, then applies the damage bonus to the sting for the rest of the fight). It’s obviously not perfectly accurate but it should give a rough idea of how much damage this gains you.
Also, the crit chance active at the time of the sting application is also maintained via chimera refresh, which means using a potion of wild magic when reapplying your sting is a good idea if you’re also using 2pc T9 (and if you get an early DBW crit proc combined with a 2pc T10 proc that’s total win). I don’t have this modeled in the spreadsheet because it’s harder to predict what the uptime would look like, but it’s something to keep in mind.
Thanks Zeherah! As always, I’m happy to hear your code-fu is managing to help bring some order to the chaos that is the blizzard combat engine :\
