Not very well, at any rate, and not in Warcraft’s LUA language. That said, I have an idea for an addon. I’m sure someone out there either can do this, or has done it already. It’s an addon that tells you how many preventable losses of DPS you had during a fight. Picture failbot for [...]

Just Starting Out?

This site normally covers stuff that happens after you hit 80, but reading Pikestaff’s post, practical advice for brand new hunters, I remembered how much the game has changed for me since I hit 80. Pike, you are tempting me to reroll and drink enough scotch that I’d get to relearn all those lessons :P [...]
New Podcast Site!

Hi folks, just a quick note this morning: the Hunting Party Podcast now has its own site! Check out http://www.huntingpartypodcast.com/. For now, it’s only bare bones site that you can use to listen to old episodes, and yes, we’re aware that you can do that on our sites already. This will, however, be the place [...]
Buffs and Debuffs for Hunters
Posted in Beast Mastery, Hunter, Marksmanship, Survival, World of Warcraft, tagged buffs, debuffs on January 25, 2010 | 21 Comments »
In this post I will go over buffs that hunters provide, the buffs that hunters want and the non-hunter debuffs that increase our dps on the target. The goal is to give you a sense of what you can contribute and what you can benefit from in terms of buffs and debuffs.
A Little Tip on Blood Princes!

Luponero from Zuluhed-US posts that your pet alone might be enough to keep a kinetic bomb off the ground. Makes sense- the things only need to be hit when they’re close to ground level.
How Hunters can Keep Their Healers Happy!
Posted in Hunter, World of Warcraft, tagged guest post, healer, healing, matticus on January 22, 2010 | 6 Comments »
This is a guest post by Matticus about how Hunters can keep their Priests (or other healers) happy. In this long overdue guest post, I wanted to illustrate a few of the tricks that I’ve observed hunters do that help their healers stay happy. I’ve partnered with many excellent hunters and a nearly equal amount [...]

I’ll be a guest over on Raid Warning’s podcast, along with Brigwyn and Daewin from the Hunting Lodge, Wych of Bind On Equip, and maybe one other guest (to be announced). It will be recorded the 31 of January, but should be available on Monday, Feb 1. You will be able to pick it up [...]
Side Project: Call To Auction!

I figured people didn’t want to have their pristine flow of hunter information sullied by such mundane things like gold, the auction house, and game economics. So I started a new podcast with Markco from JMTC and Faeghleis called Call To Auction. The first two episodes are up, and the third has been recorded. We’re [...]
Explosive Trap- Hunter Consecrate!

Explosive trap is awesome. It has been buffed quite a bit lately and now scales quite nicely with our attack power, so I figured I’d write up a guide about how and when to use it.
Is Your Pet Lagging?

Or are you just happy to see me? Looks like our pets are not auto-casting as fast as they should be. If you leave an ability on auto-cast, pets apparently take a variable amount of time more than they should to cast it. There are reports of this going down to almost nothing in deserted [...]
My Travels in Season 7
Posted in Hunter, pvp, World of Warcraft, tagged arena, comps, hunters, pvp, season 7 on January 16, 2010 | 5 Comments »
I’ve been running all kinds of crazy comps this season, including double healer/hunter, hunter/moonkin/priest, hunter/DK/priest, turtle cleave, and every variation on hunter/shaman/paladin that you can think of. I probably played hunter/DK/priest the most, but lately I’ve been running hunter/protret/resto shaman and have had by far the most success with it out of all the comps [...]

This post holds macros that you may find useful for Lady Deathwhisper and Saurfang in ICC. If they fit your play style, great; if not, don’t use them. Also note that these macros are at their bare bones. You should add in Kill Command, trinket activations, etc., as appropriate.
BM to MM/SV Pet Talent Tree Bug
Posted in Beast Mastery, Hunter, Marksmanship, Survival, World of Warcraft, tagged bm, bug, mm, pet spec, pet talents, pets, sv on January 9, 2010 | 7 Comments »
If you respec from BM to MM (or I believe to SV), you may end up with a pet talent tree like this: The pet talents used with the BM spec remain in the tree, preventing the use of the new unspent talents on, say, Thunderstomp. The BM talents only exist in the talent tree and not in the pet’s Spellbook, though. [...]
