This week, Frostheim, Darkbrew and I answer a whole load of listener emails!
edit: also, before I get any more hate mail, we recorded this after I had completed saurfang exactly once. I incorrectly stated that volleying adds is the way to go, however will address and correct on the next show.
As always, here is the iTunes store link, the Hunting Party Podcast feed, and the direct XML feed. If you email us comments or questions, we’ll read them on the next show. Send an email to huntingpartypodcast@gmail.com. Also, we love iTunes reviews. Every time you neglect to leave us an iTunes review, a feral druid beats a hunter on the DPS meters!

I disagree about volleying on adds for Deathwhisper 25 as a general practice. It can be okay right away, especially if you’re using it to MD the pack to the tank (pallies I know can have trouble with Adherent threat). However, volley seems to be wasted on normal Adherents a lot of the time, is always wasted on skeletal adherents, and is even counterproductive when the Adherents are empowered. Also, if you take too long to kill an add when it is near death, it can get off a Dark Martyrdom, explode on the melee, and come back as a skeleton. For those reasons I think quick, single target burns should be the default hunter approach. Volley is indeed more dps, but I don’t think it serves the raid as well.
All that said, being on those adds is always kind of painful because by doing mixed damage we’re almost always wasting some portion or other of our damage.
Yeah, I recorded after our first fight, and I noticed that our guild’s MM hunter had more damage done than me due to volley. Now that I’ve done it a few times, I agree with you. I’ve gotten better at prioritizing my abilities based on the weakness of my target, but believe me, there’s a lot of room for improvement :P
To the hunter who’s email was read around the 53min mark; shut up and do your freaken job. That’s what we’re there. If you were to complain like that in a raid situation; you’d be benched, or atleast i’d hope so.,
I suspect I’m earning my raid spot because of my effervescent personality and sexy voice. All this extra raid utility I bring is just icing.
i’m thinking of keeping the T9 2pc set bonus and getting the T10 2pc set bonus. which particular pieces would provide the highest optimization? would it be legs/gloves of T9 and chest/shoulders of T10? love the show! keep up the great work!
What, no comment on the Upgarde Keep cluster-fun story? Serious bunch, here.
Without doubt, this was one of the funniest WoW stories of the year, and well delivered, too. “Pong” as the inspiration for WoW? Priceless…
Thanks for the podcast, guys!
Alobar and Mik
Those are chopped in after the show so we never hear them until you do :P
