This week on the Hunting Party Podcast, Darkbrew and I talk to Jurgwena, the PvP writer for OutDPS! If you are a PvE hunter and are looking into the idea of starting some PvP, this is the show for you. You will find that many of the questions we ask are from a perspective of complete cluelessness in regards to PvP. In fact, you could almost call us “PvEtards”.
We also talk about patch 3.2.2′s changes, including Onyxia.
As always, here is the iTunes store link, the Hunting Party Podcast feed, and the direct XML feed. If you email us comments or questions, we’ll read them on the next show. Send an email to outdps@gmail.com or thebrewhall@gmail.com, and mention “podcast” in the subject.
If you don’t do syndicated podcasts, and just want to download this week’s MP3 and play it on your player of choice, click here.
I’m liking Jurwena’s stuff. Looking forward to the battleground posts :)
Thanks for the kind words! the AB guide is going up first, should be done by tmr <3
Was anyone else unable to duplicate the reduced damage taken under 35% with the ‘Cornered’ pet talent? I tamed a spider and just attempted this and the pet continued to take full damage till dead.
Is this only a PvP change, I was testing on a mob. My spider was not 80 yet either. Is that a factor?
Bear in mind, it reduces crit chance, not overall damage. Sorry if that wasn’t clear in the recording.
“It’s not reflected in the tool tip… but there’s another effect there if you max it out you get like 60 or 70%, no ones really sure, flat damage reduction when the put is below 30%”
Maybe I’m still misunderstanding but based on what I’m hearing there I’m unable to create a similar result in game.
Oh that’s right, he did mention that. Let me clarify with him and see if we can get a definitive answer for you.
5x nested comments suck
Damage reduction though ‘Cornered’ confirmed. About 2/3 reduction, didn’t crunch numbers but about 1500 auto attacks down to 500.
Only works against players, not against mobs. Not sure if level is significant, only tested against another player once I got the pet to 80.
Yeah, if I remember, once they get to about 3 deep, I try to reply to a higher branch on the comment “tree”. Infortunately, there’s no way for me to make the default activity for comments that reach the threshold of maximum nests (configurable) act like comments on the deepest nest, they all revert to trunk comments. So I put the limit to 10 deep.
The reduced damage only applies to damage from PvP
Just listened to this episode and I had another suggestion for PvP Beast Masters: Silithids. They have the same ranged-root power like Spiders except they do a (extremely) small amount of damage. That makes them spiders with a little bit extra. ‘Course, means you need the 51 point Beast Mastery talent since they’re exotic.
Right, and as always, the question you need to answer is whether that one point is worth the exotic pet. A part of the answer will lie in how much better a silithid is than a spider…
