My wife/accountant lowered the boom on me. This site and podcast are an expensive hobby. Now, it’s less expensive than a poker night (I’m really really bad at poker), and I keep costs light by sticking with the dumbed down hosted version of wordpress. The podcast, however, came with one large upfront cost (a half decent podcasting mic) and a couple of smaller recurring costs (file hosting).
I started looking around at potential ways of getting some ads, but I really like the clean look of the site, and I can’t think of a way to monetize without losing something. Then I realized that most of my readers are brilliant, and are thus probably better paid than me. I am now accepting donations: there is a permanent button to the right of the site.
If you, dear readers, are more generous than I needed to pay for my set-up costs, I promise to use the excess funds to buy Mrs. DPS nice things, thereby pushing back my eventual inevitable forced retirement :)
