Hey, experienced Raider and Pvper here..
read about the gemming part, people who preffer MM spec and are BGing and hoping to enter Arenas should stick with Agility = Red, Agility+Crit = Yellow, Agility+Stamina = Blue.. at the moment i have my gems maxxed out with these and i have around 27/28k health unbuffed!

These gems really help with a AP and Crit which will create a better nuke..

Are explosive shot/chimera shot spells? I thought they were physical damage and thus, they dont benefit from spell penetration gems.
please confirm that they are (or not) spell that benefit from spell penetration gems.

Awesome post. I have just recently gotten into BG's with my 80 hunter, and an alt priest I am leveling. Prior to this Summer, I had never even walked into a Battleground. Now I get itchy if I miss Wintergrasp and I like to do each BG at least once a week. Holy crud they are fun.

I have had little luck searching for basic strategies on battlegrounds. WoWiki is not terribly helpful, and most Blogs focus on specific classes.

Any suggestions?

I really need to get a pvp set put together, but I'm oh so very lazy. And I mostly just do the occasional BG or some world pvp with my guild, so my raiding gear is generally just fine.

I may not have the resilience to live that long, but I go out with a bang. Literally. :D

but you can get the jist of it by looking at this spec i whipped up really quickly:

you can move 3 pts from imp HM or imp arcane shot around to whatever else you prefer, like survivalist or deflection if you do BGs with a 2her and don't like getting disarmed for 10 seconds.

I'm a long time raider, but just getting interested in PvP.
I've been doing BGs every so often and I do fine with my raid gear/spec, but I'm really curious what a good spec would be for pvp, and what talents would be better for a pvp environment as opposed to in a raiding environment.
Is there anything you can refer me to, or do you have any intention of addressing this in a future post?

I don't do too well with mouse-over macro'd abilities.

They're great for healing and raid-frames of course. But they get awkward for some things. Could you provide some?

I have one for mouse-over tranq-shotting. It's a hold-over from Sarth, where I want to keep the boss dps'd but mouse-over tranq the enranged. That's great, but it sucks for other situations where I only care about my main target. It's then costing time because I need to mouseover my target.

For using mouse-over macros on defensive-reactive abilities (like Master’s Call and Roar of Sacrifice) do you hold your mouse over the team members in the field, in raid-like frames, or in party-icons? I like to move the mouse over the large visible field and have all actions as buttons, so moving the mouse to a teammate raid frame on the side is extra time. But doing mouse-overs of teammates is more tough.
