Yay! Informationweek says that the Chinese government has just banned gold farmers. While I’m sure they’ll just pack up and move to Taiwan or some other place that is easier to do business in, this should mean a temporary reduction in spam volume.

According to the article its more than a billion dollar enterprise. I expect prices of items will drop and lower subscription for blizzard.
I don’t see how it could be a billion dollar industry- I suspect that this is either defining the criteria for inclusion in this statistic very widely, or estimating badly. think about it- the three largest MMOs in the world aren’t worth collectively one billion dollars.
