- I got the giant’s bane last night. Awesome gun. Not nearly as excited as I was about getting the slightly inferior envoy, but it’s best in slot before hard modes.
- I’ve started collecting good one-handers if nobody else wants them in case I ever get a pair good enough to beat my current stat-stick, which just looks dumb.
- I’m starting to regret my choice of names. I picked “Euripides” when I transfered servers because my original name was taken. I had been considering writing a blog, and Euripides was an ancient greek playwright. Two problems: first, there’s another blogger (a mage) who uses “Eurepedes” (slightly different spelling). To make matters worse, we share the same first name in real life. This leads me to spend time wondering which one of us is the evil one? Second, people never know how to shorten it. My guildies have started calling me “Euri”, which sounds like “Yuri”, which is entirely too Russian for my Canadian accent. My old guildies called me “Eurip” which just sounds weird, allthough I’ve started missing it. Some of the personalities that hang around on BlogAzeroth call me “Rip”, which I think is by far the coolest shortening so far.
Notes of the day!

Giant’s Bane is pretty sweet. I was sad about losing my Envoy, but then I noticed….There’s a dial on the Giant’s Bane! What does it do? I presume that it turns up the badass.
And yeah, Twisted Visage does look kinda lame. I haven’t seen any other good two-handers drop except from the good general at the end of the dungeon, and a malee picked that up. I’m still sticking with Twisted Visage until I get that, though, despite the fact that it is a staff.
And the nickname problem, that’s always been an issue for me as well. On some site I go to, people call me “Kata” which makes me feel like a little girl in an anime. “Kat” seems kinda feminine, but people have been calling me that long enough that I don’t really care, BUT a lot of people don’t want to call me that -because- it sounds feminine. And to make matters worse, the queen of my guild is referred to as “Kat” because….I dunno, it’s her actual name, or her original character or something. Nobody has any idea what to call me, and I don’t have any badass nicknames at all….Ron would just be stupid….
My mother had an English professor who used to say “Euripides pants, you go home in a barrel,” which is what I always think of when I hear that name! :P
I am always trying to dissuade my guildies from calling me “Flo” or “Flor” so I understand your dilemma — “Flori” is the preferred nickname and I can usually get people to call me that when they aren’t making fun of me for being the oldest person in the guild.
I think Rip is an awesome nickname and you should definitely promote it.
lol- I got another one from the blogazeroth gang today- “pedes”. I should have just named my character Bob or something.
