Just a short post today because I’m working on a massive guide (with screenshots!) on how to use the dps spreadsheet.
What’s one of the largest differences between end game content today and end game content in burning crusade? Aside from the obvious stuff, if you check your gold carefully at the end of a Naxx clear, you’ll notice that unless you spend a buttload in repairs, you’re about 100g richer than you were when you walked in. I thought that was a pretty awesome design concept because while I am independently wealthy in game, most of my guildies get most of their money from dailies and farming.
Let me tell you, listening to them whine and bitch about having to farm or do dailies for cash is really hard on me! The constant complaining, the shouting in vent, the tear stained emails, plus whatever they were doing to get me in such a state!
Well, what should we spend this new money on? We dedicate 3+ nights a week to clearing end game content, so that means you’ll get your epic flier in… No! You may get cash from drops, but you’re being irresponsible unless you have a food buff and flask/elixir for every boss fight, and those things cost money. If your guild makes them for you, count your blessings, and go buy your epic flyer. If you are responsible for it, use the cash you get clearing content to go and buy your flasks!
Flask of endless rage is standard for dps classes, and awesome for hunters. If you are an alchemist, it’s cheap to make and lasts twice as long (and I think gives you twice the attack power). There are other options, but none that last through death, which means that this will probably be best for most people.
Most raids have a dedicated chef who has a bunch of fish feasts or great feasts. These are fine for trash and fine for farm nights, but if you have a genuinely challenging fight in front of you, splurge on blackened dragonfin. As I’ve said before, we get more dps out of agility than we will out of equivalently itemized attack power because of expose weakness.
Now if you’re standing there in front of (let’s say) patch after a wipe and you want to know who’s not pulling their weight by not having a food and flask buff, check out the big brother addon. This combined with failbot can greatly improve your raid’s performance. Nothing’s more frustrating than deciding to blow a 10g dragonfin meal on increasing your DPS by a couple of percent and wiping at 1% while half of the other dps forgot to bring flasks.
Well, I told you this would be short. I’m going to go and try to document how to use the dps spreadsheet.
